Skittles had the summer of 2014 off from any riders in an attempt to let him heal from a deep hoof abscess. However stall rest was at constant odds with his cellulitis/lymphangitis. Since his hooves needed to stay dry, but being inside made his other legs swell to painful proportions. Unfortunately, his hooves became too weak and it was a tough but necessary decision to put him down.
Skit did it all from being a Quarter Horse racer, to a foxhunter, to a stadium jumper, to the kindest lessson horse and friend. He is deeply missed. But our “Prince” now rests on Scotsgrove land, out of any pain.
